1.) What is the message board?

 

 

The message board allows community users to post messages and discussions about anything happening in the area.  It is broken up into different sections with specific topics.  Users can create new messages, reply to existing posts, and browse post created by other users.

Because this is a family-oriented site, we expect that users will refrain from posting inappropriate comments.  The message board is moderated, and any posts deemed to be inappropriate will be removed, and the user will be notified.  Further disregard will result in the user being banned from the site.  If you see any post that may be deemed at inappropriate, please report it to a moderator using the provided link.

2.) Who is allowed to post messages?

 

 

Any user who is a registered member of the site may post messages on the message board.  Non-registered members may view posts, but may not create their own posts.  Registration is free, so please join the community let us hear from you.

3.) How do I post a message?

 

 

We have done our best to make it easy for you to post messages and join in on community discussions.  To post a message, simply follow these instructions:

Creating a new discussion:

1. From the main message board window, click on the section that you wish to post your message.
2. Click on the "New Thread" link
3. Enter the subject line to be displayed on the main section page
4. If you'd like, select an icon to be displayed next to the subject line
5. Type the message text that you would like to post.  You can use special formatting if you'd like by using the formatting toolbar about the message area
6. You may upload an image to be displayed in the post as well.  Images can be up to 100kb in size.
7. Checkmark the box to ne notified if other users reply to your post.
8. Click the submit button to post your message.

Replying to existing posts: 

1. To quickly reply to a post without any special formatting, click the "Quick Reply" link.  A textbox will appear, allowing you to enter a quick message.
2. If using special formatting, click the "Rely" link, and create your message in the same manner as creating a new one.

4.) Can I send a private message to a user

 

 

Yes, private messaging is enabled in the message board as well.  To send a private message, click on the PM icon below the user's profile picture.

5.) What is "Karma"?

 

 

Karma is a person's overal rating as an active message board user.  Other members can "Applaud" or "Smite" a user based on how much they value the user's opinions and replies to other topics.

Think of karma as a feedback system.  If a user posts informative topics, gives valuable advice to other users, and participates in a civil manner, then there karma score will reflect that.  However, if a user is rude or disrespectful, their karma score will suffer and other users will know to avoid them in potentially controversial discussions.

As we have stated before, the purpose of the message board is to allow users to voice their opinions, and discuss topics important to the community.  Therefore, it is in everyone's best interest to act in a civil manner.
